Take on the Marathon in a Month Challenge This May

This May, we’re encouraging people across Staffordshire to get moving with our Marathon in a Month Challenge – a fun and achievable way to improve your health, boost your wellbeing and build more movement into your daily routine.
The challenge is simple: walk the equivalent of a marathon – 26.2 miles – over the 31 days of May. That might sound like a lot at first, but when you break it down, it’s more manageable than you think.

Small Steps Really Do Add Up
You don’t need to complete long walks every day to reach your goal. In fact, a little movement each day can make a big difference.
Not sure how to track distance? A simple guide is:
20 minutes of walking = approximately 1 mile
That means you could complete the challenge by:
Walking just under 20 minutes each day, or
Doing 30 minutes of walking, five days a week
Whether you enjoy canal paths, countryside walks, local parks or simply getting out around your neighbourhood, every step counts.

Why Take Part?
Walking regularly can support both your physical and mental wellbeing. It can help improve fitness, increase energy levels, support weight management and boost mood – all while helping you explore more of Staffordshire’s great outdoor spaces.
Most importantly, the challenge is about making movement part of everyday life in a way that feels realistic and enjoyable.
