Helping you stay on your own two feet with our FREE falls prevention service.

Falls are increasingly common as we get older, sometimes leading to injuries that can cost people their independence. The good news is that many falls can be avoided with the right help.

If you come along to our free weekly falls prevention classes, our fully-trained instructors will give you the confidence to stay on your feet. They’ll work with you to improve your balance and lower body strength through workouts, including chair-based exercises. Not only will you leave the classes less likely to fall but you’ll also improve your physical and mental wellbeing and even meet new people.

How you can get help to prevent falls

Our falls prevention programme lasts 12 weeks and is completely free of charge. In this time, you’ll learn how to increase your stability in everyday life. Working mainly on balance, exercises include placing one foot in front of another tight rope style and figure of 8 movements with your feet. Due to Covid-19, the programme can be completed at home, with weekly phone calls from a falls prevention specialist, who will help to create a tailored plan and guide you through a variety of strengthening exercises.

Who can get help to prevent falls?

Anyone over 50 years old who has a fear of falling and:

  • Lives in one of our targeted Staffordshire wards OR
  • Is registered to one of 40 targeted GP practices

Where you can get help to prevent falls

Our falls prevention classes are usually held in community centres across Staffordshire. However, due to Covid-19 we are not able to deliver a face to face service at the moment. We are currently offering a free exercise booklet, alongside weekly telephone calls with one of our dedicated falls prevention specialists.
