Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is about using everyday conversations to help people make changes to improve their physical and mental wellbeing by signposting to local services. Training includes helping others to find solutions and create behaviour change plans.
This free practical skills development training is for any professional who interact with the public and have an opportunity to support health and wellbeing.
Our MECC Courses are delivered to a range of professionals including:
- Doctors
- Nurses
- Allied health professionals
- Housing teams
- Library staff
- Job Centre staff
- Social care staff
- and many more
The training is very interactive using participants own experiences and beliefs. Each session is unique as it uses these prior experiences to prompt reflection and improved practice. This gives practical skills and resources that can be used immediately following the course.
Rather than telling people what to do, MECC is about recognising opportunities to talk to people about their wellbeing using the skills of asking and listening.

Testimonials

Along with several colleagues from across the site, I attended the MECC session provided by Everyone Health. The three-hour session was a great opportunity for colleagues to mix from various departments and engage with the various tasks and activities put on by the Everyone Health team. The course itself was thought provoking and encourages you to think about how you ensure every conversation with colleagues is supportive, open and engaging. Everyone in our business will experience challenges daily whether it be work related or personal; it is our job to ensure every colleague is supported in whatever capacity they wish.

“As the Operations Manager at Winshill Medical Centre, I can confidently attest to the invaluable impact of the MECC training on our team. Nuala and Becky’s expertise made the session engaging and highly beneficial. The feedback from our staff has been overwhelmingly positive, with many already recommending it to others. Thanks to this training, our team has enhanced their communication skills and feel empowered to provide even better service to our patients.“
Ryan, Operations Manager, Winshill Medical Centre

“I found the training easy to follow, I felt we were all kept engaged and focussed with the group exercises throughout, in fact the group exercises were very beneficial as they allowed for everyone to share their views and a lot more ideas were brought to the table as opposed to sitting individually where I don’t think people would have offered as many ideas. Delivery was excellent Trainers facilitated regular breaks and were kind, friendly and approachable. No question felt silly to ask and I feel I walked away knowing more than I did before the training. I’m also likely to remember it too as we had fun whilst learning everything!”
